Aldehyde

    An organic compound containing a formyl group and formed by the oxidation of alcohols.

    Aldehydes have applications in organic chemistry, including the production of fragrances. Common aldehydes include formaldehyde (methanal), acetaldehyde propionaldehyde, butyraldehyde, benzaldehyde, cinnamaldehyde and vanillin.
