Erythritol

    [ Erythritol ]

A sugar alcohol with about 70% of the sweetness of sucrose and 0.213 kcal/gram of energy.

It occurs naturally in some fruit and fermented foods and is approved in most countries as a food additive, principally as a transporter for other sweeteners.

When compared to other sugar alcohols such as maltitol, sorbitol, or lactitol, erythritol is less likely to cause gas or bloating due to being more difficult for intestinal bacteria to ferment.
