Non-Essential Nutrient

    [ Non-Essential Nutrient ]

A nutrient that an organism can endogenously synthesise and, therefore, need not be acquired from dietary sources.

This definition does not consider conditions which may result in the demand exceeding the body’s capacity for synthesis, resulting in a nutritional deficiency.
